Goldendale Observatory reopens April 24
|
We are excited to announce
that Washington State Parks will reopen the newly renovated Goldendale Observatory State Park Heritage
Site April 24, on a limited schedule.
To comply with the state’s
Phase 3 order, the observatory will open at a reduced capacity.
The free observatory programs will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on
Saturdays and Sundays only. Visitors must register online for the
programs. The facility will not open for drop-in visitors, and
staff will not offer private tours. State Parks will not be able
to schedule visits outside the Saturday and Sunday program dates.

of the observatory.

Book a mid-week stay to snag your favorite campsite
|

With
more and more people turning to the outdoors for an escape,
finding an available campsite or cabin can be especially
challenging. Particularly for weekend stays and during the summer
months.
Did you know you have a
better chance of making a reservation if you stay mid-week?
And just a reminder, when
you do arrive at your destination, please be considerate of others
and don’t show up before check-in time, which is 2:30 p.m. for
campsites and 4 p.m. for cabins and roofed accommodations.
This allows time for staff to clean and ensure your campsite or
cabin is ready for your stay.
Get tips on how to find an
available campsite or to make a reservation. Or, you can call
888-CAMPOUT (888-226-7688).

Cheers to our volunteers!
2020 State
Parks Volunteer Award winners
|

Throughout
the year, Washington State Parks volunteers put on their green
vests and give their all to the public lands they love.
From camp hosting to
creating new trails, saving lives, carving new park signs and
keeping things tidy, volunteers enrich the park experience for
everyone.
Once a year, we recognize
some of our volunteers for their exemplary service. Recently we
announced our 2020 awards given to 28 volunteers for their
outstanding contributions. Award winners are chosen from
nominations by parks staff members.

about these dedicated volunteers. Learn how you can become a
